FREE RIDES on Election Day

In an effort to make it as easy for all to get to the polls as possible on election day, we are offering free bike share rentals on November 8. Simply use the code 11816 at any of the 30 stations across the city for a complimentary 30-minute rental. Note that the Kansas City Area Transit Authority is also providing free fares on all RideKC routes, with their partners in Johnson County, Independence, and KCK. Let nothing keep you from the polls this year: ride free and vote!

Handlebar Happy Hour & Bike Drive: Nov. 10 at The Bar

The City of Mission and BikeWalkKC are holding a bike drive and Handlebar Happy Hour on Thursday, Nov. 10 at The Bar on Johnson Drive from 5:30-7:30 p.m. We will collect your gently used adult bikes that will be cleaned and repaired, and either given to the City's adopted families at the holidays, or used through BikeWalkKC's Earn-A-Bike program. Donations are tax-deductible. All are welcome: experienced cyclists, people curious about bike riding in the city, Mission residents, and those from around the region. We'll talk cycling, circulate a sign-up sheet for those interested in connecting with other area cyclists, and just have a good time! Bike parking will be available. Check our events page for more details.

Your Input Needed: North Kansas City Bike Share

Do you live, work, or visit the City of North Kansas City? We need your input on November 17. Three new Bike Share stations will be installed there next year, and the city seeks your input about where you ride and your ideas about station locations. These will be the first stations to be installed north of the river.

The Open House will be held between 4:00-6:30 p.m. at the North Kansas City YMCA. Click here for more information.

Our Newest Sponsor: Plaza Animal Clinic

We are pleased to welcome our newest Bike Share sponsor: Plaza Animal Clinic. Plaza Animal Clinic is a full service animal hospital and welcomes both emergency treatment cases as well as pet patients in need of routine medical, surgical, and dental care. They are located at 5002 Main Street. The Clinic sponsored three posters at BCycle stations located near the Country Club Plaza, providing high visibility information for area residents and visitors.

If your business is interested in sponsorship opportunities, please contact us - premium spaces at our 30 stations (and counting) and/or on the bikes themselves are available!

New Bikes to Hit the Road in 2017

We're exited to share the news: 80 brand new BCycles will soon arrive. While we can't share too much yet, here's a hint - the color is "Rorange!" Stay tuned for opportunities to volunteer to assemble and test these hot new wheels...

Update Your App: Update Your Ride

Now Kansas City Bike Share members can simplify your ride: BCycle is rolling out a new version of the BCycle App TODAY, Monday, Nov. 7. Available for Android and IOS, this new app offers:

  • Mobile Checkout
  • Account Management
  • Directions to Stations
  • Directions via BCycle
  • Push Notifications

Note: users currently using the "Bcycle Now" app should uninstall it and then install the new BCycle App. This app replaces previous versions.

Don't have the app yet? You can also use the cell phone associated with your membership account to check out a bike. Simply input your number at the kiosk; BCycle will text a code to unlock your bike. No card needed!
